I love reading, Christian, Biographies, Autobiographies, Cookbooks, Fiction, Historical Fiction, History, Memoir, Mystery, Romance, Suspense, Thriller, Parenting, Marriage, Christian Counseling, Health, Natural and Herbal, Childcare and Teaching, Inspirational as well as Alaskan.

I prefer a printed copy that I can hold in my hands and become old friends with, but will also accept E-books in Kindle, PDF or Nook formats.

I am a Christian and seek to glorify my Lord. As such I will not read any erotic, paranormal, vampire, or such books. I also will stop reading any book that has bad language (Cursing and taking my Lord’s name in vain.), and books with gratuitous sex. This is one reason I have chosen to be associated with the Publishing Companies and the Authors that are on my site because I feel safe recommending them to others.

Autumn Romance ~ 3 Stars

Autumn Romance Stories and Portraits of Love After 50Autumn Romance Stories and Portraits of Love After 50 by Carol Denker
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Up front ~ This book is for married people.
It's not bad or crude. In fact I found it to be very sweet and heart touching and tender with many wise words of couples who are past the young or middle age! There are a few pictures I would prefer not to have but over all it is a treasure trove of how to love for years and years, even when you are old, grey and wrinkled together!!

The Lincoln Letter ~ 3 Stars

The Lincoln LetterThe Lincoln Letter by Gretchen Elhassani
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was reminiscent of the National Treasure Movies in that there are hidden clues that are supposed to lead to a letter written during the civil war that surrenders to the south. A Mom, her Father and young son who are history buffs and participate in the yearly Civil War Re-enactment's, get involved by accident.
It is an ok book. Not the best mystery I have ever read but entertaining.

The Moving Prison ~ 4 Stars

The Moving PrisonThe Moving Prison by William Mirza
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow!! This book was in your face intense! I did not see where it was going from where it started!
It follows the slow desperate destruction of one family as the regimes change and as Jews they are now marked people and have to get out of the country as fast and quiet as they can!
The Dad/Husband starts doing everything necessary he can and needs to do. But in trying to protect his family...He doesn't talk to them and so they keep finding out after the fact that he has made all these huge, life changing plans without them even knowing!
A heartbreaking book!

Shattered ~ 4 Stars

Shattered (Alaskan Courage, # 2)Shattered by Dani Pettrey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have been unable to get my hands on the first book in this series, "Submerged" as hard as I have tried! So reading the second was playing a bit of a catch up game. Also, to be 100% upfront I went into this book a little biased not expecting to like it at all!
Here's why...My sister read "Submerged" (She won a copy and I didn't) and gave her review on her Goodreads and her new Book Blog "http://SandrasBookNook.blogspot.com" and it wasn't that good of a review.
Here's the thing. If you are going to write about an area (even if it is a pretend town), you should study the weather, terrain and wildlife in the surrounding areas!
I have lived in Alaska for 27 years, my Mother-in-law was born and raised on Kodiak and I have lived there as well as here on the mainland. If the first book is like my Sister described...it's not even close!
So going into "Shattered " I wasn't holding out a lot of hope but still wanted to read it. I am glad I did!! This one takes place in winter and is better researched! There are still some facts that are off but not enough to knock out the good of the book! I am very excited to read #3 and see what is going to happen with Darcy and a certain some one! And will she tie Jake's story into the siblings or will he get his own book? I know already who I want to see him end up with.

Side note: ****SPOILER ALERT****

As a 44 year old Christian Wife and Mother with three children ages 17, 13, 11 1/2 at home I am NOT at all a tattoo person. BUT, as a Woman and a Mom who has miscarried and lost 7 babies to God's arms. When I read about the tattoo in honor of his baby...I wept tears that I had been holding in for years!! Thank you so much for such a beautiful picture of a Father's Lasting Love!!

Saving Hope ~ 4 Stars

Saving HopeSaving Hope by Margaret Daley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is very well written and I have book #2 sitting on my dresser ready to read. BUT I do feel like this book needs to come with a bit of a warning. While it is dealt with as carefully as possible there is some very serious subject matter in this book and I personally will be waiting a while before I allow my 13 yr old to read these books. There is just too much information and too much that would scare her in the area where we live.
Now some area's, girls at 13 might need a well written book like this from a Christian Lady to open their eyes and warn them...but I highly recommend parents read it first and decide on an individual basis.
This book deals with three (four really) sides of a major underage prostitution ring being run in TX.
One you have the parent/Texas Ranger who's daughter is the exact age the Ring is kidnapping. So he's trying to bust the bad guys but keep his daughter an innocent and it's not working so well for him.
Two you have the Rescue Center's Owner/Director that is trying to save these girls and somehow gets right in the middle of the mess the harder she tries to fix things the worse they get.
Three you have the few known bad guys who SOMEHOW keep getting by and slipping through every trap and is always one step ahead somehow.
Four you have the slime-ball who is backing the whole thing (silent partner) who was giving info to the bad guys.
I do love how Margaret takes time to develop each character not just two or three main ones! It makes for a far better book!

Roses For Mama ~ 4 Stars

Roses for Mama (Women of the West)Roses for Mama by Janette Oke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A sweet, poignant, story of a family of siblings who's parent's die and leave the two oldest to finish caring for and raising the three younger when they aren't very old themselves.
It goes through the doubts, fears and struggles of siblings vs parents, and hit me in a very real way because like the Mother (though not dyeing) I have been bedridden for four years now and my children starting at ages 13,9 & 8 had to step up to the plate and take over my cooking and chores. And now at 18, almost 13 and 11 1/2 they are still having to carry the load with no end in site.
So yes this book made me cry. I didn't give it a 5 star rating because it would take a saint from Heaven to be as perfect and sweet ALL the time the way the Mother was portrayed.
Other than that a great read.

Come to the Table ~ 3 Stars

Come to the TableCome to the Table by Neta Jackson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this book from B&B Media as a review book. I was asked to read it, give it a rating if 1 to 5 Stars and write my review.
I have heard and seen bits about the SouldOut Sisters Books but this was the first one I have read. To be honest I often felt like I was playing catch up or that the author was trying to give hints and explanations about small things while leaving more important how's and why's hanging unfinished.
I had several issues with this book. A SEMINARY student, who is shocked when he's expected to preach. He's sharing an apartment with three young women, one whom he's in love but she has NO IDEA, EVEN THOUGH SHE ADORES him also!
Plus they mixed in an soap opera amount of misunderstanding and love triangle and you have a huge mess.
It's supposed to be about family and food but its more of a mixed mess of romance, misguided service to God, confusion and jealousy on who likes and loves whom.
When I read the blurb about the book I thought I would be about the actual food they ate. Maybe even a recipe or two. How the food drew them together, but they all ate different styles and at different times other than a few special pick-nick type situations.

It really felt rather a mess to me. I really don't feel like I can recommend this book.

Still Lolo ~ 5 Stars

Still Lolo: A Spinning Propeller, a Horrific Accident, and a Family's Journey of HopeStill Lolo: A Spinning Propeller, a Horrific Accident, and a Family's Journey of Hope by Lauren Scruggs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While not lining up 100% with how she chose to live part of her life and I'm sure there are some doctrinal differences between our beliefs... The fact is God clearly has done a mighty work in this young woman's life and the fact that she and her family and friends give all the Honor and Glory to God for all the miracles in her life makes this book well worth reading!
I received this book from Tyndale Publishers to read and rate. The above review is completely my own opinion.

Damaged ~ 3 Stars

Damaged: A Violated Trust (Secrets, #3)Damaged: A Violated Trust by Melody Carlson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book is not an easy one to write a review on. It is well written and the Author gets inside the heart, mind and feelings of the main character but the subject matter is pretty rough and so I would have to recommend discretion on who reads this.
Having been (SPOILER ALERT) raped as a young teen myself, Melody did a good job of writing the emotions, thoughts, fears and PTSD that comes from it.
But I think it would best be read as a recovery tool for those who have gone through it than as a preventative. It is a little to detailed and graphic for girls like my daughter whom I am trying to keep innocent as long as I can.
That being said, the difference is, my husband and I both are very checked into what and who is in our children's lives. There is no on their own for hours to let trouble find them, or them find trouble.
I do think that this is a book that every parent of a teenager should read! Whether they be boy or girl. It will make them far more aware and maybe able to watch, teach and prevent something like this happening in their child's life!
