I love reading, Christian, Biographies, Autobiographies, Cookbooks, Fiction, Historical Fiction, History, Memoir, Mystery, Romance, Suspense, Thriller, Parenting, Marriage, Christian Counseling, Health, Natural and Herbal, Childcare and Teaching, Inspirational as well as Alaskan.

I prefer a printed copy that I can hold in my hands and become old friends with, but will also accept E-books in Kindle, PDF or Nook formats.

I am a Christian and seek to glorify my Lord. As such I will not read any erotic, paranormal, vampire, or such books. I also will stop reading any book that has bad language (Cursing and taking my Lord’s name in vain.), and books with gratuitous sex. This is one reason I have chosen to be associated with the Publishing Companies and the Authors that are on my site because I feel safe recommending them to others.

I live in Alaska. In fact I have lived in Alaska for most of my life. I have yet to see evidence of this "global warming" that everyone is so worked up over and now scaring children over. This year we have had one of the snowiest years in history. I find that hard to reconcile with global warming. Two of our last three summers have been cold and rainy to the point that we were barely able to even grow a spindly garden for lack of warmth and sunshine. It was so cold here this year that we had moose walking into our hospitals, sticking their heads in drive thru windows, walking on people's porches and roof's to eat the leaves off the trees.
To me this book is like the three little pigs...a fairy tale, only told as if it were proven fact to make people do what they are told and trained to do. In my humble opinion this is a political book written in the form of a children's book to brainwash the children into doing and believing what they are told to.
I do not want to be offensive but as a proud Alaskan this is the way I feel and I'm sorry I can't give a better review of the book. The writing style is lovely and poetic and the drawing is magnificent artistic work that does Alaska proud but the theme is too far off the charts for me. I am sorry that I couldn't like it.

Double Minded

Double MindsDouble Minds by Terri Blackstock
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Just finished this book and it was really good! The book was a great ride of ups and downs, both with emotions from the main Character, Her struggle with doubting whether her Faith and service to God was as selfless and Christian as it should be.
I loved that others saw Christ in her more than she did. It's when we think we are great Christians that we start having problems. Her humbleness without knowing it was wonderful! She truly cared for others and admitted to herself when it hurt to give something to someone that she really wanted, but then saw God bless her abundantly for her selflessness.
I highly recommend this book to everyone.

I'm On A Pause!

I'm On PauseI'm On Pause by Patty Belanger
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Very accurate. Scary for anyone who isn't living in menopause...in fact it will depress you and I don't recommend it to anyone who hasn't been living it for at least 6 months to a year. But for me at 43, having been in the thick of it since my last baby was born and I had a radical hysterectomy...This is like looking in the window of my life for the last 10 years, minus the wine and cussing.
Thankfully my dear husband has been a ROCK and has helped me every step of the way. I just enjoyed being able to spend a few min. laughing at the things that usually make me cry!

Another Homecoming

Another HomecomingAnother Homecoming by Janette Oke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Janette Oke & Davis Bunn do it again! Whether writing a series or a stand alone book like this one, they always manage to nail it every time!
This book kept me captive to the last sentence even though I had read it a back when it first came out. It has stood the test of time and was as good the second time around!
Like an old friend. And so well worth the second read!! I highly recommend this book!

Survival Mom: How to Prepare Your Family for Everyday Disasters and Worst-Case ScenariosSurvival Mom: How to Prepare Your Family for Everyday Disasters and Worst-Case Scenarios by Lisa Bedford
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I won this book here on Goodreads and was amazed to receive it in two days! It is a good book with a LOT of well researched information. Much of this information is stuff that I was aware of living in Alaska for the last 27 years. Between being prepared for tsunami's, earthquakes, blizzards, 6 months of winter, hiking, hunting trips, fishing trips, camping, etc. and always being prepared in case of being weathered in or training to protect yourself from bears and moose.
This book did a good job of fleshing out and filling in the holes for me. For someone who has never even thought about these things or who lives in a big city, I could see where it might be a new concept and help them totally from start to finish.
All in all a good book. I'm very glad I won it! Thank you!

True Devotion (Uncommon Heroes #1)True Devotion by Dee Henderson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As always Dee has written another excellent book! A very enjoyable afternoon read on a cold snowy day!
While in my personal opinion, it wasn't as gripping as her O'Malley series (my favorite so far!)it was still a book well worth reading!

ScreamScream by Mike Dellosso
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was leery of this book when I read some of the previews, thinking this might be way over the top for me. But I was very pleasantly surprised! The screams on the phone were never really figured out or explained why they started or stopped. That stumped me and ended up giving only 4 stars.
But the author did a tremendous job of describing feelings, emotions, the way each person looked, stood, dressed, etc.. in a new and unique way. And was able to keep his bad guy a seceret up until right near the end. That is often very hard in a small town when he is a prominent person! I liked that a lot!

A very nice book for boys! It isn't too babyish in the drawing of all the kinds of vehicles but it shows the love of the father above all his stuff!! I appreciate that!!

Choosing to SEEChoosing to SEE by Mary Beth Chapman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I will buy this book. I'm sure I will read it over again. It struck a note with me on many levels, not because of adoption or having a child killed or even the way we face things the same way on a spiritual or daily level. Our personalities are not the same and yet so many parts of this book were just what I needed to explain pieces of me and my history to myself.
So very honest it was scary that she could bare her very heart and soul that way! Wish I could be more like that and not bottle so much up for fear of hurting others with what I think and feel.

Of all the non-fiction books I have read in the last two years, this book by Mary Beth Chapman, grabbed me in a way no other book has done! This is every parent's nightmare multiplied by 1,000's of times. To loose one of your children, but to have it be an accident at the hand of one of you other children with another watching....her story of how their family wrapped around each other to heal. Broke and healed my heart at the same time. I will never be the same. Such honesty she poured out on the pages of the book. Truly amazing!!

Two Wars: One Hero's Fight on Two Fronts--Abroad and WithinTwo Wars: One Hero's Fight on Two Fronts--Abroad and Within by Nate Self
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amazing! What an incredible life story! And he tells it with such simplicity and humility! The honesty he shows with his Spiritual relationship with God is humbling to say the least! I want to watch that program mentioned at the end, now that he has made me feel like I know each of these hero's personally now. I would be very honored to one day meet this hero and his wife, who in my point of view fought a third war of her own here at home! I am thankful that our Country still has men like this who give their all for us every day! Thank you Nate Self!

Book Blogging!

Today is the first day of my new book blog! I am very excited and want to start out by thanking a couple of wonderful ladies who have been very encouraging, knowledgeable and helpful about starting this new adventure in my life! Margaret of Creative Madness Mama and Christian Historical Fiction (where she also reviews books) Has been an amazing source of wisdom that she has been willing to share with me. I met her at Goodreads and we have become fast friends over our love of good Christian Books! www.CreativeMadnessMama.com www.ChristianHistoricalFiction.com
Next is Megan at Hardcover Feedback, she has jumped right in and given me so much advice and encouragement. She has already checked out my site to see how I'm getting started and is offering pointers as I go along. She has a wonderful wealth of knowledge on who, where, when, why, what and how. And a beautiful way with words! I love the way her site is set up and the things she has done with it! Check it out! http://hardcoverfeedback.blogspot.com/
So my next project for the page here is transferring over some of my reviews that I have already done on Goodreads and then from now on they will post automatically! Yay!
Stick with me as I make changes to the site and learn what I need to know to run it. But I'm excited to see where this will lead!
